Viking Star Entertainment

The main area for entertainment will be the Viking Star theater, located on the first floor.  This area has a variety of lounge sofas and chairs, in stadium seating set-up.  There seemed to be enough seats for everyone on the ship, as many of the evening entertainment shows seemed to be very popular.  I wasn't extremely impressed by the evening shows, examples of which include a French-themed musical performance, a spy-themed show, a Beatles cover band, etc.

This is also the location where enrichment lectures and port talks would occur.  These were one of my favorite parts of the cruise, as we got to learn about the local cultures and history.  The lecturers for the enrichment lectures were mostly professors or former military members, all of which did an excellent job.  If you prefer not to go to the theater, all of the lectures and talks are available for streaming on your state room television a few hours later.

There is also live music throughout the day in various public locations on the ship.  Below is a sample of the music in the Wintergarden during the teatime, which I recorded as it rained outside.

I've heard that Viking is thinking about having more local entertainment in the future, which I think is a great idea.  They did have local Greek performers one day come to the top deck and give a show, which everyone seemed to enjoy.
